How to choose a travel agency in Bangladesh

What to check before you pay a travel agency in Bangladesh: CAAB certification, visa handling, who answers when something goes wrong, and how agencies differ from booking apps.

Check three things before paying any travel agency in Bangladesh: that it is certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), that a named person handles your visa file, and that you are told what is not included before you pay. Everything else is preference.

Is the agency actually certified?

In Bangladesh, travel agencies are regulated under the Travel Agency Act and certified by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh. Certification is the floor, not a distinction — but its absence tells you a great deal.

Ask for the certification directly. A certified agency will show it without hesitation. If an agency deflects, treat that as your answer and walk away. You are about to hand over a passport and a deposit; the burden of proof sits with them.

Booking app or full-service agency: which do you need?

Bangladesh now has both, and they solve different problems. Online travel agencies like GoZayaan and ShareTrip are built for self-service booking — you compare flights or hotels, you pay, you are issued a ticket. If you know exactly what you want and no visa is involved, that is often the fastest route.

A full-service agency exists for the other cases: a visa file that needs assembling, a multi-country itinerary, a medical trip, a family travelling with different passport histories, or a booking that goes wrong at 11pm and needs a human. The question is not which is better. It is which one matches the trip you are taking.

Who actually handles your visa file?

This is the question that separates agencies, and almost nobody asks it. A visa application is not a form — it is a document set that has to be internally consistent, and consular officers are reading for exactly that consistency.

Ask for the name of the person handling your file. Ask what happens if the embassy requests something extra. An agency that cannot name the person has not assigned one, which means your file joins a pile.

Reasonable things to ask before paying

  • Who specifically prepares and checks my documents?
  • What is the current processing time, and what is it based on?
  • What happens to my payment if the visa is refused?
  • Which parts of the fee are consular and which are your service charge?
  • Will you tell me if my case is weak, or just submit it?

What are the warning signs?

Guaranteed visa approval is the clearest one. No agency anywhere can guarantee a consular decision, and one that says otherwise is either misinformed or lying. Both should end the conversation.

Others: a price that changes after you commit, no written breakdown of what is included, pressure to pay in full immediately in cash, and a refusal to put anything in writing. None of these are unusual in the market, which is precisely why they are worth naming.

Where does Marks Aviation fit?

We are a CAAB-certified agency in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, and we are a full-service agency rather than a booking app — visa processing is the core of what we do, not an add-on.

Concretely: this site publishes complete document checklists for 24 countries, written for Bangladeshi passport holders and signed by the advisor who maintains them. Every price we quote is confirmed by a person before you pay, and we will tell you when a case looks weak rather than taking the fee and submitting anyway.

If a booking app suits your trip better, use one. If you want a person accountable for the file, call us: Marks Aviation, +880 1602-351814.

Common questions

Is a travel agency cheaper than booking directly?
Not always, and any agency claiming it always is should be treated carefully. Agencies can access consolidator fares that are not on public sites, but the honest answer is that on simple point-to-point routes a booking app is often equal or cheaper. The value of an agency is in complex trips, visa work and having someone accountable when something changes.
Can any agency guarantee my visa will be approved?
No. Visa decisions are made by consular officers, not agencies. Any guarantee of approval is false. A good agency improves your file and tells you honestly how strong your case looks — that is the most anyone can legitimately offer.
What does CAAB certification actually mean?
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh licenses travel agencies operating in the country. It means the business is registered and accountable to a regulator. It is a baseline of legitimacy rather than a mark of quality, but an uncertified agency is one you have no recourse against.
