Known locally as Narikel Jinjira or Coconut Island, this small dumbbell-shaped coral island lies roughly 9 km south of the Teknaf peninsula in the Bay of Bengal. Low coral shelves, sandy beaches and coconut groves encircle fishing villages and drying racks where silver pomfret and ribbon fish dry under the sea breeze. Visitors explore by bicycle or foot, watching sea turtles and ocean birds around the southern reef.
