Folk tradition ties this mound to Behula and Lakhindar from the Manasa tale, and most people still call it Behular Basar Ghar. Excavations in the 1930s found something different: a terraced base of 172 sealed brick cells, built from around the 7th century to carry a Buddhist shrine, with a temple added later. Climb the terraces for a view over the fields towards Mahasthangarh.
