Excavated in 1943 during British rule to alleviate urban water scarcity, Shakuni Lake remains the primary recreational and civic focal point of Madaripur. The water body extends over roughly twenty acres and was extensively renovated with paved walking trails, an observation tower, and ornamental lighting.
