Founded in the late seventeenth century by Panchanan Sen, who amassed wealth in the tobacco trade, this riverside estate spans over seven acres near the banks of the Jamuna River. The palace features fifty-five rooms across its Lal Dighi wing and grand Natmandir, blending classical Greco-Roman arched columns with traditional Mughal brick detailing. National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam frequently stayed here while courting Promila Devi, niece of the zamindar family, composing several celebrated poems on its terraces.
