Kotka serves as the primary sanctuary in the Sundarbans East Forest Division, where mangrove canals open toward the Bay of Bengal. A wooden walkway winds through sundari trees to a four-storey observation tower overlooking open meadowland where spotted deer and wild boars graze. Beyond the forest margin, Jamtola beach runs along the shoreline with driftwood scattered across tidal mudflats. Visiting requires joining an organised boat cruise departing from Mongla or Khulna.
