Khan Jahan Ali commissioned this massive brick mosque in the mid-15th century as the congregational centre of Khalifatabad. Despite its popular name, the roof carries 77 low domes supported by 60 stone columns, with an additional dome topping each of the four corner towers. The battered brick walls, tapering turrets, and gently curved cornices define the distinctive Khan Jahani regional style. Visit early in the morning before tour buses arrive from Khulna, and spend an hour in the adjacent archaeological museum.
