Rising roughly 2,200 feet above sea level along the Thanchi road, Nilgiri is an army-managed hilltop viewpoint famous for clouds rolling below the ridge. The resort station offers panoramic lookouts across green valleys stretching towards the Bay of Bengal on clear days. Carry warm clothes in winter as temperatures drop sharply on the open peak once the sun sets.

How to get to Nilgiri
About 48 km south of Bandarban town on the Thanchi road. Hired four-wheel drive 'Chander Gari' takes about 2 to 2.5 hours through mountain passes.
Bandarban town is about 320 km from Dhaka, around 8 hours by road. Every way to get there is in the Bandarban guide.
Passports or national IDs must be registered at army checkpoints along the route; foreign nationals require prior district administration permission.
