Established as a wildlife sanctuary in 1981, this remote coastal char at the mouth of the Meghna covers over 8,000 acres of tidal mangrove forest and sandbars. Large herds of spotted deer inhabit the keora and gewa woodlands, while muddy shoals attract migrating shorebirds and ducks from November to February. Narrow canals cut through the reserve, navigable only by small wooden country boats during high tide. Arrange local boatmen and an experienced guide before setting out from Char Fasson.

How to get to Char Kukri-Mukri Wildlife Sanctuary
About 130 km south of Bhola town. Take a bus or shared microbus from Bhola to Char Fasson in 2 hours, continue by auto to Kachimpara or Baburhat, then board a trawler for the 1.5-hour crossing.

Access depends on daily tidal schedules; tidal surges can flood pathways during full moon and rough weather.
