Sultan Shamsuddin Yusuf Shah built the mosque in 1479, and an inscription found in the debris records its foundation. The brick walls still show intricate terracotta flowers, geometric bands and hanging-lamp motifs, though the roof collapsed long ago. A short walk to the east across a pond brings you to the excavated outline of the Darasbari madrasa, one of the oldest collegiate complexes excavated in Bengal. A dirt track winds between mango orchards to reach the compound.
