Centred on the Jashore–Benapole highway in Jhikargachha, Godkhali is the commercial heart of commercial floriculture in Bangladesh. Each morning between dawn and 9 am, growers from surrounding villages bring cycle-loads of fresh marigolds, red roses, gladioli, and gerberas to trade at wholesale prices. Beyond the roadside auction yard, miles of village lanes lead past polytunnels and open floral fields. Arrive shortly after sunrise when the trading floor is most active and farmers unload their daily harvests.
