The pioneer of Bengali blank verse and author of Meghnad Badh Kavya was born here in 1824 in the riverside village of Sagardari. The Dutt family homestead features red-brick residential quarters, an inner pond, and a two-storey museum preserving personal letters, early editions of his poetry, and portraits. Below the garden embankment, the Kopotakkho River flows slowly past the bathing ghat that inspired his famous sonnet. A grand literary fair takes place here every January around the poet's birth anniversary.
