Constructed with technical support from the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation and opened for crushing in 1963, this remains the largest sugar mill in the country. The 100-acre site includes the main crushing plant, staff quarters, and sugarcane reception yards that fill with heavily laden bullock carts and tractors during the crushing season between November and February. The towering brick chimney and steel-frame workshops dominate the town's northern skyline. Visitors can walk around the factory perimeter or arrange a look inside during the working season through the mill office.
