According to local records, King Nanda Lal had this artificial lake excavated in 1610 CE to resolve drinking-water shortages in the area. The water body covers nearly sixty acres and extends roughly one kilometre from north to south, bordered by raised earthen banks planted with trees. In winter, flocks of migratory whistling ducks and teals feed across the open water, drawing birdwatchers and weekend picnickers from across the division. Walking the length of the embankment takes about an hour and offers wide views across the surrounding paddy fields.
