Hatimatha Ridge হাতিমাথা

A dramatic cliff-top ridge reached by an open 300-foot iron staircase down a sheer precipice in Perachhara.

Known in the Tripura language as Mayung Kopal or Elephant Head, this razorback hill ridge resembles the forehead and trunk of an elephant rising above the valley floor. To connect isolated hill villages, engineers erected a steep 308-foot steel ladder straight against the sheer rock face, earning it the traveler nickname Stairway to Heaven. The viewpoint at the summit looks out over miles of virgin mountain folds and Chengi river ravines. The final ascent requires ascending hundreds of narrow metal rungs exposed to the wind, so it is unsuitable for those with vertigo.
