Masum Khan Kabuli, an Afghan noble who rebelled against the Mughal emperor Akbar and declared independence in Bengal, constructed this mosque in 1581 CE. The rectangular brick building has three squat hemispherical domes and thick corner towers that reflect late Sultanate architectural traditions. An original carved stone Persian foundation inscription was recovered from the ruins and is now exhibited in the Varendra Research Museum in Rajshahi. The Department of Archaeology restored the collapsed domes and walls, and local residents still gather here for daily prayers.
