Constructed in 1465 during the reign of Sultan Ruknuddin Barbak Shah by minister Khan-i-Azam Uzayr Khan, this is the oldest brick building in the entire southern division. Built in the pre-Mughal Ilyas Shahi architectural style, the square brick sanctuary is crowned by a single dome and fronted by an open three-arched veranda on the east. Six octagonal corner minarets flank the structure, decorated with relief brick bands and terracotta rosettes. It is protected by the Department of Archaeology.

How to get to Majidbaria Shahi Mosque
In Majidbaria village, Mirzaganj upazila, about 18 km north-west of Patuakhali town. Take an auto-rickshaw from Patuakhali bus stand to Mirzaganj in roughly 40 minutes.

The mosque remains an active place of prayer for the local village; dress modestly.
