According to Hindu belief, this temple in Ishwaripur marks the spot where the palms and soles of the goddess Sati fell, establishing it as a major Shakti Peetha. The site was patronised in the late 16th century by Maharaja Pratapaditya, ruler of the Jessore kingdom, who built a hundred-door Natmandir that was later damaged during colonial and wartime conflicts. The brick sanctuary holds an image of Kali with four arms and draws large crowds of devotees during annual Kali Puja and Navaratri rites. Remove leather items and footwear before climbing the steps to the altar.
