Built around 1662 during the reign of Mughal viceroy Mir Jumla, the mosque was founded by the saint Shah Arif beside the vast Sagardighi tank in Sarail. Its thick plastered brick walls feature arched entrances, rectangular corner towers and three ribbed domes reminiscent of Old Dhaka's Lalbagh Fort mosque. Across the courtyard stand the twin tombs of Shah Arif and his companion.
