Opened in 1938 by the Assam Bengal Railway, this ghat once carried entire passenger trains across the Jamuna on massive paddle-steamer ferries to Balashi Ghat in Gaibandha. During the 1971 Liberation War, freedom fighters launched a daring naval attack here to disrupt Pakistani military logistics. Though modern bridges reduced its railway role, the wide riverfront and sandy shoals remain a popular sunset spot where country boats ferry passengers across the water.
