Gandhi Ashram and Freedom Struggle Museum গান্ধী আশ্রম ও মুক্তিসংগ্রাম জাদুঘর

A quiet 1934 Gandhian ashram on the Jhenai river with a museum chronicling Bengal's independence struggle.

Founded in 1934 by anti-colonial activist Nasir Uddin Sarkar in Kapashatia village, this rural commune promoted spinning khadi and communal harmony. Although communal rioters burned down most structures in 1948, a historic tin-roof cottage survived. In 2006, local activists established the Freedom Struggle Museum here, displaying rare photographs, partition archives, and liberation war memorabilia. The caretaker readily shows visitors through the quiet grounds.
