Commonly known as the Rupsha Bridge, this 1.36-kilometre prestressed concrete bridge was completed in 2005 to link Khulna city directly with Mongla port and south-eastern coastal districts. Spanning the broad, muddy Rupsha River, the bridge features wide pedestrian pavements on both flanks where residents gather in the late afternoon. Visitors come to watch wooden cargo trawlers, passenger launches, and oil tankers maneuver through the tidal current as the sun sets over the industrial riverbanks.
