Built in 1892 by the Tagore family to replace an older river-threatened lodge, this brick mansion features pitched roofs and timber balconies overlooking a garden with two ponds. Rabindranath Tagore stayed here for extended periods between 1891 and 1901, composing many Gitanjali verses and the poems of Sonar Tori. The rooms now display his wooden furniture, framed manuscripts, personal letters, and the boat Padma used for river journeys. Bring insect repellent during summer visits to the gardens.
