Formed inside the Madhabpur tea estate close to the Indian border, this serpentine lake was originally created as an irrigation reservoir for tea bushes. Walking paths skirt along the ridge above the water, offering open views of rows of tea shrubs and pink and blue water lilies floating across the shallows. Winter brings migratory wildfowl to the open water, while tea workers harvest fresh shoots on the surrounding hillsides. Wear flat shoes for the dirt paths and carry drinking water, as vendors are kept outside the tea estate.
