Dharmapal Garh ধর্মপালের গড়

An 8th-century earthen fortification and palace mound in Jaldhaka, attributed to Emperor Dharmapala of the Pala dynasty.

Attributed by regional lore and archaeological surveys to Emperor Dharmapala, the great 8th-century ruler of the Pala empire, this extensive fortified site once comprised multi-tiered moats, ramparts and a central palace citadel. Over centuries the earthen ramparts softened into grassy mounds and farmland, but portions of ancient brick foundations and water tanks remain clearly visible across the village landscape. Local excavations have yielded old pottery sherds and terracotta fragments from the early medieval era. The site offers a peaceful rural walk through one of the oldest recorded settlements in the region.
