Mir Mosharraf Hossain was the first major Muslim novelist in modern Bengali literature, celebrated for his magnum opus Bisad Shindhu. He spent the later years of his life at Padamdi village in Baliakandi and was buried here beside his wife Kulsum Bibi in 1911. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs established this memorial complex in 2005, containing a museum of his personal artifacts, a commemorative library and an auditorium set around quiet ponds. Walk through the palm-shaded grounds to see the family graves.
