Standing in Mandolpara village near the Harinmari border in Baliadangi upazila, this famous Suryapuri mango tree is celebrated as one of the largest and oldest single fruit trees in Asia. Estimated to be over 200 years old, the tree has developed a sprawling banyan-like footprint, spanning more than two bighas of ground. Nineteen primary branches spread outward horizontally from the central trunk, their heavy wood resting on the earth before rooting again to support sweeping canopies of leaves. The tree continues to yield several tons of sweet, fiberless Suryapuri mangoes each summer season. Shaded footpaths allow visitors to walk beneath the massive living timber dome.
