The Eastern Bengal Railway opened the line from Sealdah through Chuadanga to Kushtia in November 1862, making this one of the earliest railway junctions in the subcontinent. Red-brick colonnades, colonial-era waiting halls, and mechanical lever frames still witness regular broad-gauge trains travelling between Khulna and northern districts. It remains the primary transit point for travellers arriving in the district. Take a seat on the platform in late afternoon when cross-border and intercity expresses pass through.
