Completed in 1986, the Muhuri Irrigation Project controls tidal surges from the Bay of Bengal while irrigating over twenty thousand hectares of farmland. The centerpiece is a 40-vent coastal regulator set where the Feni, Muhuri, and Kalidas-Pahaliya rivers join into a wide estuary. Visitors stroll across the regulator walkway to watch fishing boats work the tideline, and seasonal fishermen sell fresh fish directly at the sluice gates. Afternoon breezes off the water bring cooler air, though shade is limited on the open embankment.
