Every rainy season, the waters of this broad beel in Karpara union fill with naturally blooming lotus flowers stretching as far as the eye can see. Villagers row small wooden dinghies through narrow waterways cut between the giant green lotus pads, carrying travellers out into the open lake. The spectacle is at its height in early morning, when the blooms open fully and mist hovers over the water. Come between July and October; by mid-winter the water recedes and the land is ploughed for winter rice.
