During the 19th and early 20th centuries, the zamindars of the Basu Roy Chowdhury lineage constructed dozens of masonry residences across Ulpur village. Several two-storey brick mansions still stand with classical parapets, shuttered balconies and weathered archways set among palms and deep pond ghats. While some buildings house local government offices and schools, others remain overgrown and partially abandoned. Wandering the village paths reveals historic Kali and Shiva temples tucked behind bamboo groves.

How to get to Ulpur Zamindar Bari
In Ulpur village, about 8 km north of Gopalganj town centre. Easy-bikes and battery autos from Kuadanga bus stand reach the village in roughly 20 minutes.
