Located in the quiet rural village of Tungipara on the bank of the Baigar River, this memorial marks the birthplace and final resting place of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Designed by architect Ehsan Khan, the modern brick and white marble structure features an open-sided octagonal dome rising above the marble tomb. The surrounding grounds enclose the old tin-roofed ancestral home of the Sheikh family, a library, exhibition halls and wide reflecting pools. Plan a morning visit to wander the paved park pathways before weekend tour buses arrive.

How to get to Mausoleum of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman
At Tungipara, about 19 km south-east of Gopalganj district town. Local buses from Gopalganj bus stand take 30 minutes, or hire an auto-rickshaw directly to the complex gate.
Gopalganj town is about 145 km from Dhaka, around 2.5 hours by road. Every way to get there is in the Gopalganj guide.
Visitors must remove footwear before stepping onto the marble mausoleum platform.
