Constructed during the Bengal Sultanate in the mid-15th century, Galakata is the best-preserved monument in the medieval city of Mohammadabad at Barobazar. Its square brick prayer hall features six domes resting on slender stone columns, with curved cornices and terracotta floral motifs decorating the central mihrab. Beside it lies the Galakata Dighi, an ancient reservoir dug to supply drinking water to medieval merchants and travellers. The Department of Archaeology excavated and restored the site in the early 1990s.
