Kishoreganj stretches from fertile river plains into the watery expanses of the north-eastern haor basin. During the monsoon, the eastern upazilas of Nikli, Mithamoin and Austagram turn into an inland sea dotted with island-like villages, while the district town preserves historic Eidgah grounds and centuries-old temples. The intercity trains from Dhaka offer an easy overland link into this distinctive wetland culture.
