Habiganj occupies the southwestern edge of the Sylhet division, where flat haor wetlands meet forested sandstone ridges along the Indian border. The district is best known for the wildlife habitats of Satchari and Rema-Kalenga, alongside centuries of Vaishnava and Sultanate heritage.
