Constructed to safeguard the Ramgati coast from river erosion, this long riprap boulder dyke has evolved into a favored open-air promenade overlooking the lower Meghna estuary. The river here spans several miles across, creating an expanse of water that rolls with sea-like tidal waves and salty coastal breezes. Locals and day-trippers sit on the concrete blocks in the late afternoon to watch sunsets sink over the water and witness fleets of fishing boats heading out to sea. Refreshment kiosks along the road serve hot spiced tea, roasted corn, and fresh snacks.

How to get to Alexander Meghna Beach
About 40 km south of Lakshmipur town in Ramgati upazila. Take a direct local bus or CNG auto-rickshaw from Lakshmipur south bus stand to Alexander bazaar; takes about 75 minutes.

High tide can splash violently over lower stones during summer depressions; stay on the paved crest when swells are rough.
