Muraridev Ghoshal Bhattacharya established this estate around 1634 during the reign of Maharaja Pran Narayan of Cooch Behar, who granted lands in exchange for a nominal rent paid in rice husks or tush, giving the area its name. The estate flourished for centuries until the passing of Girindra Mohan Roy Choudhury in 1935, after which the family dispersed. What stands today includes surviving brick gateways, weathered temple pavilions, ruined two-storey residential wings and large dighis overgrown with water lilies. It offers a reflective glimpse into early landlord rule in the Dooars borderland.
