Legend relates that the scholar Mayur Bhatta established this temple home six hundred years ago after a divine serpent encounter in the household garden. The heritage compound contains five historical brick buildings, including temples dedicated to Manasa, Durga and Kali, alongside an old musicians' gallery known as a nahabatkhana. An antique brass idol of Manasa recovered from the Kirtinasha river is preserved in the main shrine. Families from the neighbourhood still assemble here during seasonal Hindu festivals.
