Formed where the Padma and Meghna rivers weave across low-lying delta terrain, Shariatpur has been transformed into a fast-connected gateway following the opening of the Padma Bridge. The district preserves the memory of peasant leader Haji Shariatullah alongside ancient brick monuments and riverside trade ghats. Travellers come to see the bridge approach at Jazira and sample heritage rice cakes.
