Flowing south out of the Indian hills into Tahirpur, the Jadukata is celebrated for its clean water and broad sandbars. Upstream near Barek Tilla, wooden skiffs collect sand and gravel by hand against the backdrop of the forested Khasi mountains. In winter and spring, travelers walk along the wide beaches and hire shallow wooden boats to cruise the river mouth. The viewpoint from Barek Tilla hill provides a complete panorama of the river loop entering Bangladesh.
