Housed in a colonial mansion beside the Old Brahmaputra, this museum opened in 1975 to preserve original works by Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, who grew up along these riverbanks. The gallery displays over 50 of his original sketches and paintings, including poignant famine scenes and ink studies of rural life. Outside, paved riverside pathways shaded by rain trees link the museum with Zainul Abedin Park, where wooden boats wait by the water's edge. Hire a country boat for an unhurried drift at late afternoon.
