Raja Haranath Ray and his ancestors expanded this estate into one of the largest zamindari complexes in the Barind during the 19th century. The compound once contained over three hundred rooms arranged around several open courtyards, including a temple, a schoolhouse and a grand theatrical hall with classical Corinthian columns. Though much of the masonry has decayed and roots wind through upper floors, visitors can still walk through inner archways and admire carved plasterwork. Its quiet setting among village ponds receives few casual tourists.
