Rabindranath Tagore made frequent visits to this two-storey brick residence between 1891 and 1937 while overseeing his family's Kaligram estate. Here he wrote numerous poems, short stories and songs, and founded the Patisar Krishi Bank in 1905 to provide low-interest loans to tenant farmers. The house and surrounding grounds are preserved as a museum exhibiting Tagore's writing desk, letters, photographs, tractor parts he imported, and family memorabilia. The quiet Nagor river flows just behind the estate.
