Built in 1558 CE by an Afghan patron named Sulaiman during the rule of Sultan Ghiyasuddin Bahadur Shah, this mosque is one of the few surviving stone monuments in North Bengal. Its exterior and interior are cased in polished dark basalt blocks brought from the Rajmahal hills, with two rows of three domes overhead. The western wall contains three exquisitely carved mihrabs featuring vines, rosettes and hanging chain-and-bell reliefs. A large pond fronts the eastern gateway, where worshippers still perform ablutions before daily prayers.
