Netrokona lies along the foot of India's Meghalaya plateau, where fast mountain streams like the Someshwari flow down onto the northern plains. Around Durgapur and Birisiri, visitors find white-clay hills, Garo tribal settlements and ceramic lakes, while the south-eastern upazilas open into vast seasonal haor wetlands. It is one of the most geographically varied corners of the Mymensingh division.
